Residents and staff were provided with gray Mount Aloysius shirts to wear to the event. The day began with bus rides to Burr Oak State Park by Petermann Transportation. Staff and residents enjoyed a cookout for lunch. Activities for the afternoon consisted of boat rides and a variety of other activities. Special thanks to the following individuals for making Mount Aloysius Appreciation Day another huge success: all residents and staff for their participation in the day’s activities, Petermann Transportation for driving the residents and staff to and from Burr Oak, the cooks and servers, boat drivers, and all of those who assisted with clean up.

Two Mount Aloysius Employees Brave the Cold Waters for Special Olympics
On Saturday, February 13th, Stacy Arbaugh, MSW/LSW, and Tiffany McGreevy, Physical Fitness Coordinator/Coach, were among more than 200 participants to participate in the Special Olympic Polar Plunge at Stroud’s Run State Park in Athens, Ohio. This marked the 3rd annual Ohio University Polar Plunge. The Polar Plunge helps raise money for the Special Olympics of Ohio.
Many fund raisers were held at Mount Aloysius to help Stacy and Tiffany on their quest for the Plunge. The Administrative Department sponsored bake sales monthly in October, November, December, and January. Each department also sponsored a basket to raffle to raise money for the Plunge. The Mount Aloysius Catering Service donated half of their profits from two luncheons, and Polar Bear pictures were sold to staff to write well wishes for Stacy and Tiffany. The Activity Staff sold candles and half of the proceeds were donated to the Plunge. The Administrative Department also sponsored three lunches to help raise money for this event. The combined totals from Mount Aloysius fundraisers and any on-line donations made on Stacy and Tiffany’s behalf was $3,511.00. Stacy came in first place for individuals raising money for the event, and Tiffany came in second place. The total amount raised by this event was over $22,000.
Stacy and Tiffany send a Special Thanks to all of the staff, residents, family members and friends who helped them make it to the Plunge, including the following people for making individual donations.

- Oscar & Jean Jacquet
- Tammy Pickens

Mount Aloysius Donate Toys to Classic Claus
The Administrative Staff, Program Supervisors, and Therapy Staff at Mount Aloysius, in New Lexington, Ohio, recently donated nearly 70 toys to the Classic Claus Toy Drive, sponsored annually by the New Lexington Classic Riders. In lieu of a departmental gift exchange, these staff members have chosen for the past nine years to purchase gifts for the children of the community who may not otherwise receive toys at Christmas.

With the holidays fast approaching, taking a minute to think of those who
may not receive a card or gift this year is something anyone can do. Recently,
the Administrative Staff at Mount Aloysius signed, sealed, and delivered over 200
Christmas cards to local nursing homes residents throughout Perry County. Christmas
cards were also mailed to recovering soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital as a token of our
appreciation for everything they have done for us and all of the citizens of the United States.
